Globally, the aerospace industry remains dominated by men, with women comprising only around 25% of the workforce. In line with its mission to ensure equal access to resources and representation for women, Zonta International proudly presents the Amelia Earhart Fellowship.
Honoring a Pioneer: Amelia Earhart Fellowship
Established in 1938 to honor the legacy of renowned pilot and Zontian, Amelia Earhart, the fellowship aims to empower women in aerospace engineering and space sciences. With a grant of US$10,000, this annual award supports up to 30 women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees, fostering innovation and diversity in the field.
Investing in Excellence: Fellowship Details
The fellowship is open to women of all nationalities who are actively engaged in pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree. Eligible candidates demonstrate exceptional academic prowess, conducting impactful research in aerospace engineering or space sciences. The fellowship grant of $10,000 can be utilized at any accredited post-graduate institution worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria: Charting a Path to Success
- Applicants must be women of any nationality.
- Pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree in aerospace engineering or space sciences.
- Display a strong academic track record.
- Enrolled in a full-time Ph.D./doctoral program, with at least one year completed, or hold a master’s degree in an aerospace-applied field during the application.
- Graduation from the Ph.D. or doctoral program must not occur before April 2025.
- Excludes post-doctoral research programs.
- Not open to Zonta International club members, direct members, Zonta International and Zonta Foundation for Women employees, and their family members.
- Previous Amelia Earhart Fellows cannot apply for a second-year renewal.
Application Process: Paving the Way for Success
- A rigorous selection process is overseen by the Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Committee.
- Applicants are assessed based on the outlined requirements in the application.
- Application evaluations remain confidential, undisclosed to applicants.
- Notification of fellowship status will be communicated to all applicants by the end of April.
