Scholarship Overview: This fellowship opportunity is open to social entrepreneurs seeking to improve access to quality primary healthcare in LMICs. The awarded amount is $700,000, distributed among the winning initiative (up to USD 350,000) and two runners-up, paid in installments over two years.

Eligible Countries: International Students
Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for the Swiss Re Foundation Entrepreneurs Award, social enterprises should meet the following criteria:
- Mission and purpose demonstrating high levels of social impact
- Low-income populations constituting at least 30% of the applicant’s customer base
- Operation in low-income or lower-middle-income countries defined by the World Bank
- Market-based operating model with the ability to grow through earned revenue
- Formal establishment by 2021, serving at least 20,000 people, with potential to reach 100,000 people in the next two years
- Solid management team, preferably with at least one female founder or 30% women in the management team
- Legal compliance with the countries of operation
Application Process:
- Round One (Mid-February to Mid-April 2024):
- Selection of 12 applicants for a two-hour interview with LeFil Consulting
- Round Two (May or June 2024):
- Six applicants selected for a two-day on-site due diligence visit
- Preparation of a brief video about the venture, approach, and achievements
- Round Three (July to August 2024):
- Coaching for finalists to support pitch development
- Finalists invited to Zurich, Switzerland, from 2 to 6 September 2024
- Post-Award:
- Signing of a grant contract with the Swiss Re Foundation
- Agreement on impact measurement, deliverables, and a two-year disbursement plan
