About Commonwealth Scholarship
Commonwealth PhD Scholarships are for candidates from high-income Commonwealth countries, for full-time doctoral study at a UK university.
Commonwealth PhD scholarships are for high-quality graduates who have the potential to undertake world-class research of a developmental nature and to become influential leaders, teachers, or researchers in their home countries.
Eligibility for Scholarship
- Candidate must be a common wealth member.
- Candidate must live two years in a common wealth country prior to the date of Application submission.
- Candidate must hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class degree.
- Candidate must have Full transcripts detailing all higher education qualifications, including to-date transcripts for any courses currently being studied, with certified translations if not in English.
- Candidate must have proof in form of a valid passport or national ID card) showing a photograph, date of birth, and country of citizenship.
Benefits of Scholarship
- Full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and scholars are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee.
- Approved airfare from the candidate’s home country to the UK.
- Stipend(living allowance) at the rate of £1,347 per month, or £1,652 per month for those at universities in the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels).

Deadline
The deadline for submitting an application including all documentation is 16:00 BST (15:00 GMT) on 1 September 2023. The scholarships will need to be taken up in January/February 2024.
