Introduction to MTN Scholarship Scheme
The 2024 MTN Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme continues its tradition of recognizing and rewarding dedicated, high-performing students across Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions. With a commitment to supporting education in Nigeria, MTN has curated three scholarship categories to cater to the diverse needs of exceptional scholars.
Scholarship Categories:
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS)
- Open to eligible 300 level students studying Science & Technology-related courses in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions.
- 300 successful students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually till graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS)
- Launched in 2012, targeted at eligible 200 and 300 level blind students studying any course in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions.
- 60 successful blind students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 annually till graduation, provided they maintain the required grades.
- Top 10 UTME Scholarship
- A recent addition in 2020, the top 10 scoring candidates of UTME as announced by JAMB automatically qualify for this scholarship.
- Successful candidates are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 from their 100 level through to graduation if they maintain the required grades.
Scholarship Requirements:
To be considered for the MTN Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Nigerian students in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education).
- STEM Students in Public Universities, and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5.
- STEM Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.
- Direct Entry level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
- Blind Students in the Universities or Colleges of Education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
- Blind Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program.
Scholarship Duration and Reward:
- Annually, a minimum of 500 students are awarded Scholarships of N200,000.00 each to cover tuition, book allowances, and stipend for one academic year.
- Under the first phase of the project, the MTN Scholarship award was presented to 500 successful candidates in the 2nd year of study in science & technology related disciplines across 44 Federal & State-owned tertiary institutions.

Interested applicants will need to fill an online application form provided below. Candidates are expected to provide details such as Full Name, Matriculation Number, Department, CGPA, Course of Study, Home Address, etc.
