The Meta Research PhD Fellowship program welcomes applicants from all stages of their PhD studies. We strongly encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from traditionally underrepresented minority groups, to apply. Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of the research statement, research impact, and recommendation letters.
Fellowship Type: Doctoral
Value of Award:
Winners of the Fellowship will enjoy:
- Two years of covered tuition and fees
- An annual stipend of $42,000 to cover living expenses and conference travel costs
- A paid visit to Meta headquarters for the annual Fellowship Summit (pending COVID office restrictions; the event may be held virtually)
- Various opportunities for engagement with Meta researchers
How to Apply:
- Carefully and thoroughly complete the application form.
- Select the fellowship that aligns most with your research area.
- Once your application is finished, mark it as complete.
- Request two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your advisor. When both recommender email addresses are submitted, mark this task as complete.
- Click ‘Submit’ on your application once all tasks are marked as complete.
Notification Process:
- Upon entering your recommender’s email address, an email will be directly sent to them, initiating the recommendation letter submission.
- You’ll receive a confirmation email upon submitting your application.
- You’ll receive two additional confirmation emails once each of your references submits their letters of recommendation.
- A final email notification will be sent once your complete application, including recommendation letters, is submitted.
- Award decisions will be communicated to applicants in late January.
Scholarship Timeline:
- Application Opens: August 3rd
- Application Closes: September 20th
- Reference Letters Due: October 6th
- Review Process Opens: October 11th
- Winners Notified: January 18th
