Applications are now open for postdocs pursuing research or teaching at higher education institutions/universities in Non-European developing countries. Applicants should have previously received a grant in Austria administered by OeAD-GmbH (formerly ÖAD).
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have passed at least 5 years since their last scholarship-supported study or research stay in Austria.
- Maximum age: 50 years
- Applicants must not have studied, pursued research, or undertaken academic work in Austria within the last six months before taking up the grant.
- Grants in this program can only be applied for every 5 years.

Selection Criteria
During the selection process, the following criteria are examined and assessed:
- Purpose of your stay
- Rationale for choosing the specific target institution in Austria
- Added value of the stay for the partner countries concerned (establishment and/or continuation of institutional cooperation)
- Prior teaching and research activities
Value of Grant
- Monthly grant
- Accident and health insurance if necessary
- Accommodation
- Travel cost subsidy
- Duration of Grant: 1 to 3 months
Eligible Countries
A wide range of developing countries are eligible for the grant. Some of the eligible countries include Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and many more.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through the official portal. Hardcopy applications will not be accepted. Required documents for upload include:
- Consent of the academic partner in Austria
- Scan of your passport (page with the name and photo)
- Proof of employment by the home institution
- Curriculum Vitae
- Scan of university graduation certificate of PhD or doctoral studies
Important Notes
Recipients of grants will receive the grant contract (Letter of Award and Letter of Acceptance) from OeAD-GmbH/ICM. The contract covers various aspects, including grant details, payment modalities, compulsory presence at the place of study, performance record, data protection, and repayment requirements.
