The University of Pretoria has announced the opening of the application period for the 2024 Mastercard Scholarship at UP for qualified and interested African students who are willing to study in South Africa.
The Mastercard Foundation offers a full scholarship to students who have applied for and been admitted to one of the programs at the University of Pretoria.
The Mastercard Scholarship at the University of Pretoria will cover the full tuition fees, accommodation, meals, laptop, and living stipends of successful candidates for the duration of the master’s program.

Scholarship Details:
The University of Pretoria (UP), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation (MCF), is currently offering scholarships for high-achieving African students interested in studying at the postgraduate level, commencing in 2024.
The MCFSP offers a full scholarship to selected students who have been provisionally admitted to study towards a postgraduate degree at UP. Graduates must return to their home countries upon completion of their studies and contribute to their communities.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program (MCFSP) targets academically talented yet economically disadvantaged young people in Africa who will contribute to the transformation of the continent.
Mastercard Scholarship recipients at the University of Pretoria are expected to utilize their knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values, as evidenced by their leadership experience, to make an impact in their immediate community.
Scholarship Requirements:
To be considered for the Mastercard Scholarship at the University of Pretoria, you must:
1. Be a citizen of Africa.
2. Come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and demonstrate financial need.
3. Demonstrate leadership potential and involvement in a giving-back project, such as within a community, school, or church.
4. Maintain a high academic average at all times, as academic excellence is paramount.

Application Method:
To apply for the Mastercard Scholarship at the University of Pretoria, interested and qualified candidates should follow these procedures:
1. First, apply to secure admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Pretoria.
2. Submit your application electronically to mcfsp@up.ac.za or deliver a printed copy to the Department for Education Innovation’s reception office.
